The Refugee Sponsorship Training Program (RSTP) is a program designed to support the Sponsorship Agreement Holders (SAHs) of Canada, their Constituent Groups, Groups of Five and Community Sponsors on a national level (excl. Quebec) and a provincial level in Ontario.
The objective of the RSTP is to address their information and on-going training needs as well as the initial information needs of sponsored refugees.
The RSTP has an Ontario team, funded by the Government of Ontario, which focuses exclusively on the training needs of sponsoring groups in Ontario.
The services that the RSTP Ontario team provide include:
- Training, webinars, workshops and information sessions for sponsoring groups across Ontario on how to sponsor refugees under the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program, and how to implement their settlement responsibilities;
- Assistance to sponsors with navigating the sponsorship process and reviewing application forms with the aim of submitting a successful sponsorship application; and,
- Information sharing related to the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program, settlement, application forms and managing expectations.
